City advises of upcoming water supply disruptions in the South Peninsula area

The City of Cape Town’s Water and Sanitation Department will be completing the final linkages between the existing pipeline to the newly installed water reticulation infrastructure in Noordhoek and Kommetjie Main Roads. This forms part of the Kommetjie Main Road upgrade project and the connection will take place over the next two weeks. Read more below:

Thursday 6 February 2020 between 08:00 and 18:00:

The Water and Sanitation Department will be completing the final connection to link the newly installed 300 mm water main to the existing pipeline in Noordhoek Main Road.

As a result of these works, residents living on the higher-lying elevations above Noordhoek Main Road and Beach Road may experience low, or reduced pressure, as well as an intermittent supply.

A water tanker will be stationed in the Noordhoek Farm Village should there be no water during this period.

Tuesday 11 February 2020 between 08:00 and 18:00:

The City’s Water and Sanitation Department will also be decommissioning the existing 400 mm diameter water main in Kommetjie Main Road. This work will take place in the vicinity of Living Hope and just beyond the entrance to Capri.

The department has completed various shutdown tests upfront and all indications are that no one should be without water during this period. 

As a precaution, it is, however, deemed advisable to warn residents that areas such as Noordhoek, Sun Valley, Masiphumelele, Ocean View, Kommetjie and Scarborough may experience low water pressure and intermittent supply on the day.

Residents are kindly requested to store water in clean, sealed containers for use during this period. All taps should be kept closed should they experience no water supply during the shutdowns.

The City apologises for any inconvenience that may be caused while conducting this work.
